The Internet Society of Serbia is pleased to invite its members and the wider community to attend the ninth edition of Descon, which will take place from November 21 to 23, 2025, in Belgrade.

This year’s Descon, titled “Trust and Power: AI is a Harsh Mistress,” will explore key questions surrounding trust, power, and the impact of artificial intelligence on society.

Over the years, Descon has evolved from an IoT and cybersecurity hackathon into a regional platform that connects IT professionals, activists, researchers, and technology enthusiasts working in the fields of technology, the internet, and sustainable development. Through lectures, panels, workshops, and a hackathon, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, develop ideas, and collaborate on innovative solutions.

Highlights of Descon 9.0:

  • Panel discussions and lectures featuring distinguished speakers, including:
    • Friedrich Moser – Austrian filmmaker and author of “How to Build a Truth Engine”
    • Gordana Andrić – Executive Editor at BIRN
    • Marianthe Stavridou – Public Speaker, Consultant & Teacher
    • Vladan Joler – SHARE Foundation
  • Klimerko Hackathon – a hands-on segment dedicated to developing and improving air quality monitoring devices and environmental sensors. Participants will work on integrating new sensors, data sharing, and implementing sustainable tech solutions.
  • Workshops and prizes – teams will have the opportunity to compete for valuable awards, including a first prize of €1,000.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required via the official website: https://descon.me/2025
